About Karin
Karin Gulíková is a first year student of the Software Development program in its regular form, taught in English. She moved to Prague from her native Slovakia. “At the time, I researched all the IT schools in Prague and it was Unicorn University that really caught my eye,” she remembers.
Why Unicorn University
“If you want to work in the IT, you must speak English,” she says. That was the principal reason why Karin Gulíková enrolled in the study program taught in English. Other selection criteria included the university’s personalised approach to students and its online study materials. “In the past, I had to attend each lecture in person and when I missed it, it was my problem. At Unicorn University, everything is available online and I can actually study anywhere,” she says. Karin takes advantage of that when she goes to visit her family in Slovakia. “Once I listened to a lecture while driving,” she says. Karin also appreciates the personalised approach of her lecturers who can communicate their knowledge in an engaging manner.
IT is not just for Men
According to Karin, people still tend to see the IT as a predominantly male domain. “This opinion is deeply rooted in our society. Fortunately, I was given a choice and I do not regret it. Now I can do what I really enjoy,” she says. And you can see it from her choice of temporary job of programming instructress for kids between 7 and 14 years of age.

While here, at Unicorn University, everybody is happy to help me and answer all of my questions.”
