The aim of this privacy policy is to provide you with information about what personal data we collect and how we handle them, from what source we acquire them, for what purposes we use them, whom we provide them to and how you can find out what personal data of yours we process. This policy should also clarify how we ensure confidentiality and security of your personal data.

This policy is valid and in force as of 25th May 2018.

Unicorn Vysoká škola, s.r.o., IČ: 271 69 511, Address: Prague 3, V Kapslovně 2767/2, postal code: 130 00, is the collector of personal data with regard to Art. 4, par. 7 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27th April 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereafter as “GDPR”).

We’d like you to know that we handle your personal data with proper care and in accordance with valid legislation. Your personal data are protected to the highest possible degree. This passage sums up the basic principles that we follow when processing your personal data:

Purposes of processing of personal data

Unicorn Vysoká škola s.r.o. processes your personal data for the following purposes:

Fulfilling statutory and contractual obligations
  1. For purposes of inspections by state administration or other controlling authority of the Czech Republic, European Union or other Member States, meeting obligations as a controller (esp. by virtue of the Act on Higher Education Institutions No. 111/1998 Coll.; the Act on Supporting Research and Development from Public Sources No. 130/2002 Coll.; the Act on Accounting No. 563/1991 Coll.; the Act on some services of information society No. 480/2004 Coll. and other). 
  2. For purposes of meeting contractual obligations of both contractual parties (concluding and fulfilling the subject of the contract properly, monitoring of obligations)
Controller’s legitimate interests
In some cases, we process your personal data on a legitimate interest, especially for security and administrative reasons. We process such data only on the assumption that your rights do not outweigh our legitimate interest. In order to be able to process on a legitimate interest basis, we always perform a balance test to determine whether we are authorized to do so. The legitimate interests are mainly administrative purposes, health protection and property protection.

  • Using e-mail to evaluate the quality of educational, creative, and related activities, including feedback; academic staff, students, alumni, and experts of the given university or from a workplace other than the given university are involved in these processes.
Categories of processed personal data

Unicorn University processes personal data provided directly by individual natural persons (by virtue of consent or other legal grounds) as well as other personal data arising from processing activities and necessary for ensuring those. Such data may include the following categories:

Identificators and address details: academic degree, name, surname, place and date of birth, nationality, marital status, contact address, permanent address, birth number, +4U ID, previous education, signature etc.

Electronic contact details: phone number, email address.

Study data and activities: previous education, secondary school graduation certificate, recognition certificate, study agreement, possibly payment schedule, agreement annexes, study records and study activity records (enrolled courses, field of study, type of study, language of study, year of study, form of study, year of enrolment for study, evaluation, grades, date of taking an exam, study results, taken tests, exam dates), involvement in projects.

Electronic data: bank account number, obligations and claims, fees, tax information.

Other electronic data: website from which a visitor came to the Unicorn University website, IP address, date and time of access, possible visitor’s query, the http response code, transferred groups of data, data about the browser, country of access, internet provider, screen resolution and operation system of the website visitor’s computer.

Recording of Video and Audio Footage at Events

During events organized by us (both in-person and online), photographs, video, and audio recordings may be taken for the purpose of documenting the event and its subsequent promotion.

These recordings may be published primarily on the controller’s website, social media, or in other marketing materials.

The processing of personal data in the form of these recordings is based on the controller’s legitimate interest, which is to provide information about past activities and to promote organized events.

When capturing and publishing recordings, we take care to protect the rights and privacy of participants, particularly to ensure that individuals are not captured as the main subject of the recording without their consent.

Event participants have the right to object to the processing of their personal data or to request the removal of a specific recording in which they appear.

Contractual obligation of employees regarding protection of your personal data

Your personal data are processed by our own employees or third persons with whom we always conclude a written agreement on processing of personal data. Our employees process your personal data according to internal directives and take training in personal data protection. Moreover, we implement further technical organizational measures in order to protect the data to the highest possible level. All persons processing personal data must be bound in writing to observing confidentiality of the information acquired with regard to processing of personal data.

Period of personal data storage

We store data only for the period necessary with regard to the given processing of personal data. In accordance with valid legislation, the data are subsequently either disposed of or archived for a period specified by law. The maximum period for which we store data is specified by the archiving and disposal rules, i.e.: 20 years (contracts), 5 years (bachelor theses), 3 years (tests).

Transmitting personal data

We are a part of the Unicorn Group and we are authorised to transmit personal data other group companies or companies of groups linked to the Unicorn Group on the basis of legitimate interest, in particular for administrative purposes.

We also use the services of external processors in order to process your personal data. We transmit your data to such processors only in accordance with the purposes specified above. We always conclude a contract for processing of personal data with such processors regarding the transmission that includes the same safeguards for processing of personal data as observed by Unicorn Vysoká škola

Unicorn Vysoká škola may also transmit chosen data to other subjects in order to meet statutory obligations (e.g. public authorities).

Your rights

The right of access to personal data: If you have doubts in terms of exactly what personal data of yours we process, do not hesitate to contact us. You have the right to know exactly what personal data of yours we have, i.e.:

  1. the purpose for which we process your personal data,  
  2. the extent of personal data,  
  3. other recipients of personal data to whom we have already provided the data or to whom we intend to provide the data,
  4. the period for which we are going to process your personal data,  
  5. the sources of your personal data which we did not receive directly from you, and 
  6. the fact whether automated decisions, including profiling, take place. 
  7. We provide such information typically in an electronic form.

The right to rectification: you have the right to have incorrect data about you rectified without unnecessary delay by Unicorn Vysoká škola and you have the right to have your incomplete data supplemented (even by means of a supplement declaration),

The right to be forgotten (for erasure): you have the right for erasure of your personal data if one of these reasons is given:

  1. the personal data are not necessary for the purpose for which the data were collected or processed;
  2. you revoke your consent; this applies to processing by virtue of consent and processing where no other legal ground exists for processing;
  3. you object to the processing for reasons of legitimate interests of the collector of personal data; 
  4. processing of personal data was unlawful;
  5. if a parent’s consent is not given to processing of personal data of children;
  6. statutory obligation determined by the Union law or by the law of a Member State.

The right to restriction of processing: you have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data if you believe that your personal data are processed contrary to law or in conflict with your private and personal life. Based on your request, we assess the situation without unnecessary delay and within one month by latest, we either carry out the restriction of processing or we decline it, or we extend the period if the performance of law is complicated. In any case, we inform the data subject within one month upon receiving the request of the result of the assessment and of the measures we have adopted.

The right to data portability: you have the right to receive your personal data from us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or you have the right to request us to provide your personal data to another controller chosen by you. 

The right not to be subject to decisions based on completely automated processing, including profiling, that would bear legal consequences to you or that would significantly impact you in a similar way. 

The right to revoke your consent: you have the right to simply revoke your consent to processing of personal data at any time if consent is the legal ground for the given processing of personal data.

The right to object: you have the right to file complaint to the supervisory authority (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7), if you believe that Unicorn Vysoká škola processes personal data contrary to GDPR. 

The right to information about appropriate safeguards with regard to the transfer if the data were transferred to a third country (outside the EU) or to an international organization.

The right to a copy of the processed personal data possibly in an electronic form. 

The right to notification of a breach of the security of personal data if such a breach will probably lead to a high risk for your rights and freedoms.

The right to object to processing of your personal data if they are processed by virtue of a legitimate interest.

Processing of personal data on a website

As a visitor you do not need to provide any personal data for the use of the website. Personal data may be collected by means of the website though that visitors voluntarily give for a specific purpose or anonymised data (see below) to improve the functioning of the website, to evaluate its visits and optimize marketing activities.

Processing of protocol files

Within access to its website, Unicorn Vysoká škola s.r.o. processes protocol files about the access to the website for the purpose of protecting its legitimate interests in ensuring the security of the website and improving its functioning. The protocol files are processed without the need for consent of the website visitor and stored for 30 days after the visit of the website. The data related to cookies which are stored on a Google server are stored for 14 months and erased afterwards.

Processing of these protocol files is carried out by Unicorn Vysoká škola s.r.o. These protocol files may include – but not necessarily – the following personal data of the website visitor:

  1. the website from which the visitor accessed the Unicorn Vysoká škola s.r.o. website;
  2. the date and time of access;
  3. a potential query of the visitor; 
  4. the code of the http response;
  5. transferred groups of data; 
  6. data about the browser, country of access, internet provider, screen resolution and the operation system of the website visitor’s computer.
